I wrote a book about you… okay, not really, but I did write a whole lot about this adorable session! Melissa and Shane were the recipients of my valentine’s giveaway and I’m sure glad that they won! They are two beautiful souls and documenting their little moments in their home was heartwarming. At home sessions are my favorite as they truly capture the essence of a couple in their natural environment.
To begin, let me introduce to you Levi the woof. Half German Shepherd and half Great Dane, this pup is sure to melt your heart. He was such a gentle giant and soaked up the love during our session.
We began as any day should, with coffee, and lots of it! When Melissa welcomed me into her home, I noticed two things right away, after Levi of course. I noticed she was french brewing coffee and there was a delicious freshly baked cake in the living room. Right there assured me these were my type of people; not to mention that Melissa welcomed me into her home like a friend.
After coffee, cake (which they so kindly shared with me), and lots of chatting, Melissa pulled out her wedding album to show me the photographs after I asked about their big day six years ago. It was a precious moment to document Melissa and Shane reminiscing on that day. It was such a great reminder of why I do what I do. Because quite honestly, I love documenting love.
And then of course, there was dancing in the kitchen. That’s what everyone does in their kitchen, right? Truthfully though, my husband and I have had several dances in our kitchen since being married and it’s the best!
Melissa and Shane showed me their goofy side in the kitchen and their vulnerable, compassionate love while cozied up in bed. They could have fallen asleep in each other’s arms, but it wasn’t time for a sunday afternoon nap, yet. We still had the finale, bubbly and popcorn! I’ve never photographed a session with popcorn, but I want to make it a recommendation for other couples now because it was too much fun. The popcorn war ensued and it was a riot watching them throw popcorn and keep score of popcorn consumed. Needless to say, it was a great ending to their beautiful in home session.
This session is a great reminder that you don’t have to be engaged to do a couple session. Documenting your love is perfect for the newlywed, the not so newlywed, and the not wedded couples.
Thank you Melissa and Shane for welcoming me into your home and being a totally rad couple!
