Allie and Evan's Narrin Farms wedding day was a romantic and relaxing day spent with their closest loved ones. You might recognize Allie and Evan from their cozy in-home engagement session last summer. I was happy to be back with them to document their intimate outdoor ceremony and reception. Thankfully the weather was just as you would hope it would be for a June wedding, warm but not too hot with lots of sunshine!
I loved the laid-back atmosphere of the entire day. Both Allie and Evan were able to spend the morning with their families and friends soaking up each moment of the day together because everyone stayed at the Narrin Farms Airbnb with them. It is a working equestrian farm that overlooks Narrin Lake in Ortonville, Michigan. The property has multiple residences so it works great for larger groups and you can enjoy slower-paced surroundings without being too far from town.
As they were getting ready, Allie helped her niece get ready and they had the sweetest little moment doing their makeup together. Then she slipped into her wedding dress that was adorned with hundreds of pearls. It was a spectacular dress and she looked absolutely stunning! Allie said she didn't know exactly what type of dress she wanted for her wedding but she knew this was the one the second she tried it on. I am not surprised though because Allie is a natural when it comes to bringing a vision to life through details and design. She did all of the planning and decor for the day and everything came together so beautifully.
First Allie had a first look with her dad and then Evan before we explored the peaceful farm to capture just the two of them together before the ceremony. Evan enjoys film photography and had captured much of the weekend on film so I also made sure he took a special photo of his beautiful bride with his own camera.
The unplugged ceremony was casual and intimate as they said their I-dos beneath the trees with the sunlight peeking through the leaves. Evan's brother-in-law, Max, officiated the ceremony and he did a wonderful job focusing on Allie and Evan's love and noted how he couldn't imagine a better match for Evan. After the ceremony, the couple joined their guests for cocktail hour featuring the charcuterie feast that the family put together before the wedding. Allie changed into her second outfit, which was a beautiful periwinkle dress that was more lightweight so she could prepare to celebrate and dance carefree!
After dinner, we snuck away for some quick sunset portraits. I always love when couples make time for sunset photos because it gives them a few brief moments to take in all the events of the day together. Allie and Evan are a sweet and goofy couple who love to have fun and their day was a true reflection of them as a couple. I have really enjoyed getting to know them individually and as a couple over the years and it was an honor to be there to document this milestone for them.
Back at the party, the wedding cake was a timeless white single-tier with "Til Death" written in black, which Evan also has engraved on his wedding band. Since it was also Allie's best friend's birthday they were so thoughtful in getting her a special birthday cake and everyone joined in to sing her happy birthday. When the couple took to the dance floor to share their first dance together, they chose Harvest Moon by Neil Young and then invited everyone to join them to get the party started. The day was filled with so many special moments, Evan's nephew even took lots of Polaroid photos throughout the night, which if you know me, you know I love a good instant film photo!
While technically Allie and Evan got married a couple of weeks prior in a civil ceremony at the courthouse, they said this felt like their true dream wedding day and the happiest day of their life. Congratulations, Allie and Evan! May you have many more happy days in your future together! Thank you for letting me be a part of your very special day!
