Carli and Justin's engagement session at Meadow Brook Hall was even more special because it's where they will be getting married next October. Most people might be bummed it rained almost the entire session, but Carli and Justin were so laid back and trusted me to make the most of our time together. Plus, since it did rain all day it allowed us the unique opportunity to photograph inside, which is a rare occurrence for portraits at Meadow Brook Hall. We had the entire mansion to ourselves and it was so peaceful. I played a coffeehouse-style playlist softly in the background as we toured around. We talked about their wedding planning experience and what they are looking forward to most. Carli and Justin were able to overlook where their ceremony will be and envision their special day. As a former Oakland University student, I've spent a fair amount of time at Meadow Brook Hall and I am always impressed by the grandeur and history.

As we noticed the rain waning to a drizzle, they changed into their second outfit, which was perfect for capturing the moody fall vibes outside. With clear umbrellas, we ventured out and were able to take in the scenery. Meadow Brook Hall is beautiful any time of year but there is something truly stunning about the mansion on a rainy autumn day. Justin noticed the gazebo on the hill so we headed up and they were able to take in the full expanse of the property. This was Justin's first time seeing the venue as they currently live in Chicago, and if there's a view to really take it all in, this is the one. When asked what their favorite quality in each other was, it's no surprise they couldn't pick just one, but they both agreed that they loved how comfortable they felt just being themselves together. Carli embraces Justin's goofy side and Justin loves Carli's open mind and spirit for adventure. Their sweet, tender love for each other is evident in every photograph.

I cannot wait to capture Carli and Justin back here at Meadow Brook with their closest friends and family next year!
