Mackenzie and James' wedding day was the perfect Downtown Detroit celebration! With a beautiful sunny day in the forecast, Mackenzie began getting ready with her bridesmaids and family at the gorgeous Aloft Hotel. James and the guys got ready at the Detroit Opera House, which has a stellar view of Comerica Park. It is a pretty epic way to prepare for a pretty epic day! They wrote letters to each other to read, which was so sweet and Mackenzie gifted James an engraved pocket watch. After getting ready, the ladies then headed to Grand Circus Park for some fun photos out and about, while the guys took in the sights of downtown just as the crowds were coming in for the Tigers game. The entire city was buzzing with excitement adding to the fun energy of the day.
Mackenzie and James shared a first touch where they held hands and had a moment together before the busyness of the day. This allowed them to still enjoy the element of surprise seeing each other for the first time during the ceremony. Mackenzie looked so elegant as her father and stepfather walked her down the aisle. With Detroit as the backdrop, the ceremony was perfect on the Sky Deck of the Detroit Opera House. James' groomsman, Jordan, officiated making it even more meaningful for the couple as they said their vows.
Following their stunning outdoor ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktail hour on the Sky Deck while we headed back to Grand Circus Park for some portraits of just Mackenzie and James. After their portraits, it was time for their beautiful grand entrance, followed by their first dance. At the Detroit Opera House, all the guests are able to watch the dancing from the different levels of the atrium and this lets everyone view the celebration from a unique perspective. The Detroit Opera house is one of the most beautiful places for a wedding in Detroit with so much history, too! As the sun started to set, Mackenzie and James headed outside to soak in a few private moments together, just taking it all in. Before heading back to the reception to party, we took advantage of being inside the beautiful theatre and captured some timeless portraits. Once they were back with their guests, Mackenzie and James danced the night away!
Congratulations, Mackenzie and James! I am so honored I was able to document this special day for you! I hope you always make time together to take in all of the beautiful moments ahead in your marriage.
