In a whirlwind of lace and laughter, Emily and Alex celebrated a new chapter with close friends and family at CityFlatsHotel in Port Huron. While Alex is formally known as Robert, as shown on their wedding stationery, he typically goes by Alex. I know Emily from college, we were in the sorority Tri Sigma together and I am honored they selected me to capture their special day.
After spending the morning getting ready, Emily and Alex met for their first look. The Grand Banking Hall at CityFlatsHotel Port Huron features an original bank vault from the building's former life when it was Michigan National Bank. After a full renovation, it is now a boutique hotel with lots of charm. The bride and groom were excited to see each other and the vault made for some fun photos. They also took a peek inside the ballroom to see where everyone will be celebrating with them later. Couples, if you are able to, I highly recommend taking a few moments in your reception or ceremony venue just the two of you. It is a great time to take in the day before the flurry of guests arrive and see the vision of your planning finally come together.
We took a trolly to more historical sites to capture Emily and Alex along with their wedding party around the town before heading to St. Joseph's Catholic Church for the ceremony. In the sanctuary, there was beautiful light streaming through the stained glass windows. It felt sacred to be a part of this moment as their loved ones watched the bride and groom share their vows and promises to each other. After sealing their words of commitment with a kiss, we headed back to CityFlatsHotel for dinner and dancing.
The ballroom was elegantly decorated with gold accents and delicate blush-toned florals. Since Emily and Alex's dog was unable to be a part of the day, they gifted their guests dog treats as favors so everyone had a "doggie bag" to take home to their own furry family members. Emily and Alex chose to cut a cheesecake instead of a traditional wedding cake and it looked absolutely delicious! For their first dance as husband and wife, they danced to First Times by Ed Sheeran. It was another moment that made me teary-eyed and they both radiated love and happiness as Alex twirled Emily around on the dance floor. As the sun began to set over the water, the ballroom glowed as everyone danced the night away in celebration. It was a beautiful ending to a wonderful summer wedding on the river.
Congratulations, Emily and Alex! I wish you a lifetime of happiness together!
All my love,
