Kacie and Austin's downtown Detroit wedding at the Gem Theatre brought together all of their favorite people on the most beautiful November day. Their day was made even more special by being able to have their daughter Amelia a part of the celebration and share a family dance together. But let me not get ahead of myself, let's start from the beginning.
The day started with Kacie getting ready with her bridesmaids, including Amelia, while Austin was getting ready with his groomsmen. I loved the chance to include Amelia's little shoes alongside Kacie's wedding shoes and capture Amelia helping Kacie put them on. It felt so symbolic of literally and figuratively stepping into a new phase of family life together. Kacie chose a classic off-the-shoulder style wedding dress that looked absolutely stunning on her and Austin looked great in his tuxedo. Kacie and Austin wanted to see each other for the first time as she walked down the aisle, so we focused on capturing Kacie with her girls and Austin with his guys. Their wedding party was a supportive group who were all in agreement that Kacie and Austin are simply meant to be.
Kacie and Austin's wedding ceremony was officiated by a friend and filled with beautiful testaments of their love for each other. Seeing Amelia sitting in the front row looking up at her parents speaking their vows, making their commitment to one another official was such a sweet moment. It's a moment that as a mother with a little girl I realize how special it is to have your daughter with you on one of the happiest days of your life. After the ceremony, we captured the newlyweds alongside the beauty of the Gem Theatre. They chose this venue because they fell in love with the beautiful architecture. Like most buildings in Detroit, the Gem Theatre has a colorful past and rich history. It features Spanish Revival design and an architectural style known as Arts and Crafts, which drew inspiration from nature and finely crafted handiwork.
Now it was time for the bride and groom to make their grand entrance and join their guests. The ballroom was decorated with classic greenery, fall-toned florals, and gold votives that made the room feel warm and inviting. After dinner, in lieu of a cake, Kacie and Austin shared a bite of a doughnut instead. After sharing their first dance together, they had an adorable first family dance with Amelia. It was then that the dance floor was open and the newlyweds danced the night away surrounded by family and friends. We ended the evening with a few night portraits outside to document Kacie and Austin with the iconic Gem Theatre sign all lit up and take in the fresh night air. It was the perfect end to the beginning of their happily ever after.
Congratulations Kacie and Austin! Thank you for letting me be a part of your special day, I wish you many years of wedded bliss!
